Part 2 Sponsorship

Crowd Funding has now closed at Offbeatr. Thankyou everyone who supported us. It was touch and go for a while, but we made our base target with minutes to spare. :O

Weekly Update

It has been another interesting week for us. Those of you who donated $20 or more to our crowd funding received a visual novel version of the Part 1. That visual novel uses the same engine as the game and not so popular with some of the eCommerce sites. So, we are going to do a PDF version. If you already have the Visual Novel, you will get it free. For everyone else, you will be able to buy it at the EAZ store when we have the it ready if you feel so inclined.

We are also looking at some new options for taking the game further. If you followed the crowd funding then you will be aware that we did not make any of the extension goals, but if we can raise the funds in other ways then we would still like take on some of those things, like the animations in the previous post.

Our intention is to keep the basic game free, but we may also release make a deluxe version that will be available for a modest amount at the EAZ store.

We are keeping our options open, but the deluxe version will probably have extended scenes, animations, a gallery, and an alternate card set to name a few things.

Anyhow, I want to see how you feel about all that, so keep a look out for a survey in the next few days.

I am almost finished with the Part 2 intro sequence, well I thought I was finished, but our art director pointed out some deficiencies in my art work. This is what happens when you let your coder near an art program. :D

Still, with luck I will have something out this weekend. I have some free time coming up, so I am hoping I can make some more progress now that I have gotten the initial artists briefs out of the way.

So, to contrast the sexiness of the previous post, here is a frame of the comedy relief kind. :)

Yes, Bailey is trying to squeeze into Kal's armour and it is not going so well. :)

  1. Always glad to see news about your work. Poor Bailey... They must enhance Kal's armor to suit her... her... most impressive skills, yeah. That's what I mean. Really. Good work with the animation of Dzazd too. Nice to see the chars on the move :)

By the way, the link to AEZ is broken. There is a : missing in the link, so goes to nowhere.

    Cheers!

  3. I can see what you're saying but if there's one thing i might add, then it would be a plea to not make a difference in hard content for the free version. What i'm trying to say is that the difference between deluxe and regular should be in the fluff, not game content. These donation site exist with the definitive prospect that people offer money willingly so that everyone can enjoy the same product even if other people couldn't offer money for whatever reason.

    1. The scope for the standard game is what we promised on the crowd funding site. The additional material we are referring to covers things from the extension goals we did not make.

3D art is not a cheap hobby and it is time consuming. In the current economic climate some of people will have to cut back or drop out if we don't at least meet their costs. At least on of our artists is already working multiple jobs to make ends meet and keep his old car on the road.

I saw this today: http://www.runtimedna.com/Kali-Bundle.html and wanted to use it for Mel the Mage (seen above), but multiply the cost of this by 6 artists and that is 5% of the money we received from crowd funding before it is even used in a scene. (It was a nice 10 minutes until Malo brought me back to Earth.) ;)

I do understand how you feel. It may budgetary or privacy concerns that would inhibit you from buying the deluxe version of the game. I have been effected by both over the years.

Paying with anonymous gift cards can help with the latter, but the former, well the only way we can help out at the moment is to keep the standard version free.

Also from time to time we will ask for help and we will give away access to the deluxe version as a thankyou.

Answer the survey in the next Post and you could win access to our supporters site where you can download the deluxe version when it is done.
